In Schools?

Our mission is to surround students with a community of support, empowering them to stay in school and achieve in life. In 30 years, Communities In Schools of Greater Tarrant County has grown from serving 200 students in two Fort Worth schools to serving more than 35,000 students in 71 schools across 11 school districts.

Mayra Tovar

Hi! My name is Mayra Tovar and I am the CIS Program Manager at Kennedale Junior High School . I am a licensed social worker and received my degree from University of Texas at Arlington .  My favorite aspect about working with students is witnessing their victories and progress.  This year, I am most looking forward to making memories with our students and building relationships with staff and students.  I have I have two children and a dog. My favorite snack is Peppermint Ice Cream. I can’t wait to meet you and your family!

Mental Health

Licensed Clinical Social Workers provide clinical services to address the mental health needs of students through one-on-one counseling inside schools. CIS Mental Health Supports eliminates any financial, transportation, or distance barrier that exists.
