Our mission is to surround students with a community of support, empowering them to stay in school and achieve in life. In 30 years, Communities In Schools of Greater Tarrant County has grown from serving 200 students in two Fort Worth schools to serving more than 35,000 students in 71 schools across 11 school districts.

Sydney Melville

Hi! My name is Sydney Melville and I am the CIS Program Manager at Southwest High School. I am a licensed social worker and received my degree from Texas Woman’s University and University of North Texas. My favorite thing about working with students is helping them see their potential and celebrating all the “wins” big or small.  I am looking forward to meeting and serving the students of Southwest High School!  I have I have 2 dogs (Gemma and Jaxon), 2 bearded dragons (Quasi and Diddy), 1 corn snake (Miyagi), 1 horned frog (Busta), 1 dwarf mouse (Fendi) and 1 guinea pig (Stinky). My favorite snack is I love ALL chips! I can’t wait to meet you and your family!

Mental Health

Licensed Clinical Social Workers provide clinical services to address the mental health needs of students through one-on-one counseling inside schools. CIS Mental Health Supports eliminates any financial, transportation, or distance barrier that exists.
