Euless Junior High

Leticia is a student at Euless Junior High School, and was recommended for CIS services by a parent. She was also recommended by a teacher, who was concerned that her older brother was involved with alcohol and drugs. Leticia struggled with making good choices, prioritizing academics, and low self-esteem.

When our CIS Project Manager began working with Leticia, she noticed that the student was associating with peers who skipped school, used drugs, and encouraged Letitia to participate in risky behavior. Initially, Letitia would not speak with the Project Manager; as time progressed, our PM was able to win her trust, and Letitia softened her demeanor.

The CIS PM worked with Letitia to set academic goals. She is working towards her long term goal of attending college after graduating high school. She was able to visit TCU during Student of the Day Field Trip, which further inspired her to be a college student upon graduating. Letitia also began creating friendships with positive people at school and signed the Red Ribbon Week pledge to be drug and alcohol free. She is currently a member of the Student Advisory Council, where she is able to practice her social skills by sharing her opinion on school and CIS-related events.

The teachers have noticed a significant improvement in Letitia’s scholastic performance and social interactions. Our CIS PM announces, “Because of Leticia’s hard work, she was the recipient of the CIS Outstanding Citizenship Award. Her self-confidence and grades have both increased because of her positive attitude, and will continue to improve throughout the year.”
