Human Relations Commission Recognition - In 1993 Communities In Schools Fort Worth received the Fort Worth Human Relations Commission “Community Service Award”.

National CIS Network Leadership - In 1996 CIS Fort Worth became the second CIS program in the nation to earn the Quality and Standards Charter from the CIS national organization.

“Voice of Collaboration” - In 2002, Communities In Schools was named by the Tarrant County Youth Collaboration as “The Voice of Collaboration” for its long-standing collaboration with over 100 youth service providers.

“Gilbert Garcia Amigo Award” – In 2003, Mike Steele, the founding Executive Director and current President & CEO of CIS received the Gilbert Garcia Amigo Award from the United Hispanic Council of Tarrant County in appreciation of his significant contributions to the Hispanic Community.

“America's 100 Best Charities” Award – In 2003 and again in 2004, CIS was named by Worth Magazine as one of “America's 100 Best Charities.

Bank of America 2004 “Neighborhood Builder” Award – In November 2004, CIS was awarded a two-year, $200,000 award from Bank of America as the winner of the Neighborhood Excellence Initiative, 2004 Neighborhood Builder Award.

Best of CIS Texas Awards – In 2007, Mike Steele was awarded best CIS Executive Director of the Year and Bank of America won "Best CIS Business" of the Year.
